"Finally, SpioRock returns to Vicenza. We are excited to be back here. We hope to reignite summer in our neighborhood and liven up the warm summer evenings." This is Alberto Vignato, organizer of the historic San Pio X festival, announcing the return of the musical event that has been "silent" since 2019 The occasion is the presentation of the "Vicenza city of festivals" program. From June 6 to July 21, the city is preparing to transform completely, offering a wide variety of musical events, cultural encounters, and culinary specialties.
The events were presented by the Youth Policy Councilor Leonardo Nicolai and representatives of the Festival Vicenza coordination: in addition to Vignato, Nicola Tonello for the Riviera Folk Festival, Marco Bari and Marco Furegon for the Jamrock Festival, Andrea Comparin of From Disco to Disco, and Matteo Graser for the Lumen Festival. "Vicenza city of festivals" is born: a new brand that marks a change of pace for the summer music events that traditionally enliven Vicenza and is also open to all other city festivals," Nicolai explained. "The Hangar Palooza Festival served as a springboard for this new synergy last year, confirming that Vicenza has a high-level musical and cultural offer." The Riviera Folk Festival, now in its 23rd edition, will take place from June 6 to 9 at the park in via Orlandi. Among the prominent guests are the South African star Matthew Mole and the lively Milanese street band Mefisto Brass. The Weekender Festival, organized by From Disco to Disco, will take over the gardens of the Astra Theater from June 14 to 16, with a main stage hosting national and international artists and a second stage dedicated to local talents. Not only music but also exhibition space for emerging artists, workshops, and talks on visual design and photography, accompanied by street food, skate area, natural wines, and craft beers.
The 11th edition of the Lumen Festival, from June 19 to 24 under the walls of Viale Mazzini, promises six days of entertainment with live music, DJ sets, debates, markets, and street food area. Ex-Otago will be among the first announced guests. The much-awaited SpioRock will take place on June 28 and 29, promising to bring back the energy of live music and other initiatives. Finally, for the twelfth consecutive summer, the Jamrock Festival will animate Parco Fornaci from July 16 to 21. Among the first announced artists are names like Marlene Kuntz, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Nitro, Kaos & Dj Craim, and I Melt. "These festivals increasingly raise the cultural level and come to constitute a unique proposal compared to other cities," Nicolai concludes, "a laboratory where professionalism is created, new experiences are lived, and a stronger community is formed."
