The Menti Stadium in Vicenza is once again hosting an eagerly anticipated match from Group A of the Serie C football championship. On Sunday evening at 8:45 p.m., LR Vicenza will face off against another team from the province, Arzignano Valchiampo, on the home ground. It's a derby to which the two teams come with quite different standings but with the necessity of securing as many points as possible. Vicenza must strive to maintain their third position to secure playoff access from a favorable position, while Arzignano must steer clear of the relegation zone, from which they are only two points away.
Both "Lane," coached by Stefano Vecchi, and Arzignano under coach Bianchini, come from a draw. Vicenza's draw was achieved on Wednesday evening against Padova, the second-placed team, after a well-played match by the Vicenza team who took the lead with a goal by striker Ferrari before being equalized by Padova in a fortunate draw in the last minute of injury time. Despite an unfortunate draw, Vicenza continues its positive streak, having won five consecutive matches until then.
Arzignano is coming off a draw at home against Albinoleffe, a Lombard team traveling mid-table (39 points).
The showdown between the two Vicenza teams is scheduled for Sunday evening, March 10, at 8:45 p.m. at the Menti Stadium in Vicenza. Tickets can be purchased via TicketOne, ranging from 15 to 40 euros for adults and from 5 to 18 euros for minors.
Currently, LR Vicenza sits at 50 points in the standings, in third place tied with Triestina and Atalanta U23, while at the top of the leaderboard, Mantova leads with 71 points, followed by Padova with 65. Only the first-place team is directly promoted to Serie B; teams from second to tenth place in each of the three Serie C groups advance to the playoffs, with only the playoff winner earning Serie B promotion. Arzignano is in sixth place (35 points), two points ahead of Pergolettese, the first team entangled in the relegation playoff zone. Therefore, they need points with just eight matches left in the regular season.
