The Vo on the Folks festival, now in its 28th edition, presents another double concert for the event scheduled for tomorrow, March 2 at 9 p.m. in the Community Hall of Brendola. This time, it will be a journey through the sounds, traditions, rhythms, and cultures of Africa's musical heritage.
Opening the evening will be Senegalese musician Cheikh Sadibou Fall. Born into a religious family, Fall began studying percussion used in rituals as a child and became a soloist at the age of 7. Specializing in the djembe, an African drum, he recorded his first album "Ndioukel" with the group Bakh Yaye. He also delved into studying the kora, a string instrument made from a gourd, releasing his first solo album "Afrique Unite" in July 2015, followed by "Yakar" four years later. Fall has been recognized for his efforts in promoting Senegalese culture.

The second concert will feature Mozambican singer-songwriter Jo Choneca performing in a trio with Tunisian bassist Yussef Kafel and Cuban percussionist Leivy López Guibert. Hailing from Beira, Choneca comes from the tradition of marrabenta, a popular dance music style that blends Mozambican dance rhythms with Portuguese folk music. He began playing with the traditional group Nyacha as a child, touring Europe and Asia. Now based in Genoa, Choneca focuses on his solo career, performing original songs in Portuguese, Italian, English, and Bantu languages. His tours raise funds to support communities affected by cyclones and floods that have devastated Beira and the Mozambican coast from 2019 to 2021.
Organized by the Vo Community Hall of Brendola and Frame Evolution, in collaboration with the Municipality of Brendola and Banca delle Terre Venete, the festival directed by Paolo Sgevano will conclude on Saturday, March 16 with a performance by Green Clouds, five enchanting musicians of Celtic music.
Tickets for individual evenings cost 15 euros, reduced to 14 euros for Sala members.
